The problem with "everything looks fine"
Inverter apps are built to tell you the inverter is alive. They are not built to tell you the array is underperforming. Those are different questions, and only one of them costs you money quietly.
A green dashboard is not a healthy system
One string disconnects on a 29 kW residential system. The inverter is still running, so the app still shows green. The system is quietly 54 kWh a day short, and nobody finds out until the bill arrives.
Faults hide inside averages
At site level, a single failed string looks like a slightly cloudy week. Sol AI reads at string level, so the shape of the loss is visible instead of being averaged away.

Every fault is classified with the money attached and written in a form the system owner can read, not just an error code for an engineer to interpret.
How it works
Four steps, none of which involve anyone visiting your roof.
You connect your existing inverter account
Sol AI authenticates against your manufacturer's cloud API using the account you already have. Nothing is installed on site.
It reads production roughly every 11 minutes
Each system is polled on a cadence set by what the manufacturer's API allows. Across the fleet the median gap between readings is about 11 minutes.
Actual output is compared against expected output
Production is assessed at plant and string level against what the system should be generating, so a shortfall shows up as a shortfall rather than as weather.
You get a diagnosis with a number on it
Not "fault detected" but which string, what is wrong with it, and what it is costing per month — in a form you can hand to whoever fixes it.
Inverter brands
Nine brands are read from production today. Two more are in integration, and we list them separately rather than counting them.
Enphase and SolarEdge are not live. If your system uses either, Sol AI cannot read it yet.
What Sol AI is not
Worth saying plainly, so nobody buys the wrong thing:
- It is not an industrial protocol tool. It does not speak Modbus TCP, IEC 60870 or OPC UA, and it does not deploy local protocol gateways or SCADA integrations. If you need direct on-site polling of utility-scale plant, Sol AI is the wrong tool.
- It is not real-time. Polling is roughly every 11 minutes, bounded by the manufacturer APIs it reads.
- It is not a controller. Sol AI is read-only: it cannot change a setting, curtail output, or operate your plant.
- It does not replace maintenance. It tells you what is wrong and what it costs. Somebody still has to go and fix it.
Questions
Does Sol AI need extra hardware installed on my site?
No. Sol AI connects to your inverter manufacturer's cloud API using your existing account. There is no gateway, no data logger and no site visit. If your inverter already reports to its own app, Sol AI can read it.
Which inverter brands does Sol AI support?
Nine brands are read from production today: GoodWe, Sungrow, Huawei, Fox, Solis, Growatt, Solarman, SAJ and MaxPower. Enphase and SolarEdge are in integration and are not live yet.
How often does Sol AI read my system?
Roughly every 11 minutes. That is a fleet median measured across 55,268 inter-reading gaps, not a target. Sol AI is not a sub-minute real-time telemetry system, and the polling rate is set by what each manufacturer's API allows.
My inverter app already shows everything is fine. What does Sol AI add?
Manufacturer apps generally report whether the inverter is running, not whether it is producing what it should. A single disconnected string on a 29 kW system can cost 54 kWh a day while the app still shows green. Sol AI compares actual output against what the system should be producing and flags the gap.
How much does Sol AI cost?
Sol AI starts at $1.50 per system per month. That price point is what allows installers to build $15 to $25 monthly care plans on top of it. Larger fleets are quoted against the portfolio.
Can Sol AI monitor a utility-scale plant over Modbus or SCADA?
No. Sol AI does not speak Modbus TCP, IEC 60870 or OPC UA, and does not deploy local protocol gateways or SCADA integrations. If you need direct on-site polling of utility-scale plant over an industrial protocol, Sol AI is the wrong tool and we will tell you so.
Can Sol AI change settings on my inverter?
No. Sol AI is read-only by design. It cannot change a setting, curtail output or control your plant in any way.
